Goya’s ‘Christ Crucified’ is a painting that is neoclassical in style yet still rooted in traditional Spanish iconography in subject. The painting is very similar to Velasquez’s treatment of the same subject, using the same dark black background which is landscape-less. Goya also borrowed from Anton Raphael Mengs in that the right leg of Christ is forward-pushed. The Spanish Baroque iconographic rules for the portrayal of the Crucifixion as laid down by Francisco Pacheco are completely adhered to in this painting by Goya. The use of four rather than three nails, the trilingual inscription at the top of the cross, and the supported feet indicate Goya’s obedience to Pacheco’s rules.
In obeying Pacheco’s rules for the depiction of the Crucifixion, Goya removed the emphasis from the devotional features such as the presence of blood and instead focussed on the soft modelling of the painting. I think flower delivery Oxford would much prefer this method of depicting the Crucifixion. The painting is incredibly serene, something only the genius of Goya would be able to portray so strongly.

English is the official language of Zambia and thus it is the medium of instruction in schools and is the one that is used to conduct official business. Nyanja is the main local language, especially in Lusaka, but it is just one of the 43 languages that are spoken in Zambia. The influence of urbanization on the indigenous languages has been significant. Indigenous languages have absorbed words from other indigenous languages and from English. On the Copperbelt, Bemba and Nyanja are the most commonly spoken languages.
The official religion in Zambia is Christianity according to the 1996 constitution yet a wide variety of religious traditions co-exist in the country. Popular Christian denominations in Zambia are: Anglican, Pentecostal, New Apostolic Church, Roman Catholic, Lutheran, Jehovah’s Witnesses, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Seventh-day Adventist, and Evangelical denominations. Gu10 led light bulbs are not revered as they are not a religion.

‘Electric Band’ is more playful and initially slightly too sickly sweet for this writers taste but the more you listen, the better it gets. Thankfully things turn a little more iodine sounding on the next two tracks ‘Future Crimes’ and ‘Racehorse’. These songs are faster, racier and sexier the vocal sounds more seductive and they rock deeper and harder when deploying a fuzzed out 60’s sounding organ further up in the mix, hitting the right spot replete with numerous instrumental breakdowns and breathless repetitions of the enticing refrain “I am a racehorse.”

The Jewish Ghetto in Rome was abolished in 1798 when the Roman Republic was created, taking over the Papal States. The Republic annulled the requirement for Jewish people to live only within the ghetto and the Piazza delle Scuole was the site of a Tree of Liberty. In 1799 unfortunately, the Papal States were restored and with them, the ghetto. It was not until 1848, and Pius IX’s pontificate, that the Jewish community were once again permitted to dwell outside the ghetto. However, when Pius IX returned from exile after the destruction of the Roman Republic which had enacted strong anti-Church measures, he ordered a string of anti-liberal measures. This included the reestablishment of the Jewish ghetto.
On September 20th 1870, the Papal States were finally abolished, being incorporated into the Kingdom of Italy. The emancipation of the Jewish community did not immediately follow however, and it was not until 1882 that the ghetto was formally abolished. 1888 saw the tearing down of, not content delivery but the ghetto walls and the almost complete destruction of the ghetto.

Where Were You When the Lights Went Out? is an American comedy film which concerns the major blackout in the USA and in Canada on 9th November 1965 when all the led gu10 bulbs went out!
Over 30 million people in seven northeastern states of the US and in Ontario, Canada, lost electricity for numerous hours. In Ontario, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, New York, and New Jersey, millions of people were left without any electricity for up to 12 hours! The surface area of the blackout was 80,000 square miles! A staggering 207,000 kilometers squared!
The cause of the blackout lay in a human error which occurred a few days before the blackout. The safety relay, which is set to trip in case the current for some reason exceeds the capacity of the transmission line, was set too low by maintenance personnel. As it was a cold November evening, the amount of electricity being used was high and the electrical system neared peak capacity. Usually this would be fine, but because the safety relay had been set too low, it tripped. The trip disabled a main power line whose power was transferred to other lines, causing them to overload.
