Celestron is one of the leading companies for making high-quality, yet affordable binoculars. A lot of customers don’t realize that the company also makes several monocular scopes. Now, a monocular is never going to be as good as binoculars because of the way that our perception works. When you use two eyes, your eyes are each receiving differing information and they must process this information. This process is called disparity. Celestron binoculars will automatically adjust for disparity so you see an image without focus problems or incorrect depth. When you use just one eye, our perception can change. There are several aspects to monocular disparity including interposition, atmospheric perspective, texture gradient, size and height cues, and motion parallels. Even though a monocular isn’t going to give you as good of an image as Celestron binoculars, it is still appropriate to have a monocular in some cases. Monocular scopes are much smaller so they are more convenient to carry around with you wherever you go. They are also going to be much more lightweight. Another benefit of going with the Celestron monocular is that, since there is only one lens, you can get a better quality lens as opposed to two mediocre lenses. With a good brand name, you can get a better image with a monocular than a pair of similarly priced binoculars.
